Greenbrier Sporting Club – Membership Cost and Fees

Greenbrier Sporting Club’s 2026 equity membership initiation fee is $120,000 for qualifying Greenbrier property owners. Annual club dues are $20,100 for 2026, payable January 1 each year. A separate Community Association fee costs $3,150 annually for security, roads, common grounds, and landscaping. The 2026 golf tariff lists a $25.50 member charge for 18 holes on The Snead. Nine holes cost members $12.75, while The Ashford short course carries a $1.50 member charge. The tariff does not separately identify these charges as green fees versus cart fees.

Family guests pay $105.50 for 18 holes or $52.75 for nine holes on The Snead. Other Sporting Club guests pay $180.50 for 18 holes or $90.75 for nine holes. All family guests and other guests pay $30 to play The Ashford Course. Members receive complimentary green fees on The Greenbrier resort’s three championship golf courses. Annual golf trail fees cost $1,000, while annual locker fees are $367.50 or $262.50. Golf lessons cost $75 for 30 minutes or $125 for 50 minutes during 2026.

Greenbrier Sporting Club Facilities

Greenbrier Sporting Club provides private recreational amenities unavailable to regular Greenbrier resort guests. Two private lodges feature restaurants, lounges, swimming pools, fitness facilities, and gathering areas. Members enjoy The Snead golf course, Ashford short course, driving range, putting green, and chipping facilities. Ananda Spa provides massages, facials, nail services, makeup services, steam showers, and relaxation areas. Recreational facilities include squash, fitness classes, climbing, swimming, equestrian activities, and extensive outdoor recreation. Members also receive access and discounts throughout The Greenbrier resort’s broad collection of amenities.

The community occupies part of The Greenbrier’s approximately 11,000-acre property in White Sulphur Springs. Luxury neighborhoods include mountain, creekside, fairway, and wooded homes surrounded by Allegheny scenery. White Sulphur Springs is a historic small town surrounded by rolling mountains, valleys, forests, and streams. Residents combine a secluded mountain lifestyle with convenient access to resort dining, shopping, recreation, and entertainment. More than 400 Sporting Club members represent over 31 states, Washington, D.C., and Canada. The surrounding Greenbrier Valley offers additional outdoor recreation, historic attractions, restaurants, shopping, and cultural destinations.

Greenbrier Sporting Club Golf Course

The Snead is an exclusive 18-hole private championship course designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio. Opened in 2004, the course plays 7,041 yards from its longest tees and has par 71. Wall-to-wall bentgrass provides consistent playing surfaces across tees, fairways, approaches, and greens. Natural meadows, forested hills, elevation changes, ponds, wetlands, creeks, and strategic bunkering define its mountain setting. Current official club materials do not publish a course rating or slope for The Snead. Golf Digest ranks The Snead fourth among West Virginia courses for 2025–2026.

The club does not publish total bunker or water-hole counts, although hazards influence numerous holes. Hole nine, Sahara, contains five bunkers and creates a visually intimidating approach from the tee. Hidden Pond, the par-four eleventh, features a lake and requires water negotiation on the approach. Postage Stamp, the par-three fifteenth, features a small elevated green inspired by Royal Troon’s famous eighth. Allegheny Vista offers an 85-foot elevation drop, while Swan Song finishes dramatically alongside Howard’s Creek. The Snead hosts member tournaments and Sporting Club golf events rather than a recurring major professional championship.
