East Lake Golf Club – Membership Cost and Fees
East Lake Golf Club is an exceptionally exclusive private club with membership generally structured around corporate and individual participation. The club does not publicly publish a comprehensive current membership fee schedule. Estimated initiation costs are approximately $125,000 to $200,000, although actual arrangements may differ considerably. Estimated annual dues can range from roughly $12,000 to $18,000. These figures should be considered unofficial estimates because East Lake keeps membership financial details private. Membership proceeds and charitable contributions have historically supported redevelopment efforts within the surrounding East Lake community.
Golf privileges are generally included with qualifying memberships rather than priced like daily-fee public golf. Standard member green fees are not publicly advertised by the club. Guest golf is generally available only through members and subject to club rules and availability. Guest green fees and cart charges are not publicly disclosed and should be confirmed directly. Additional expenses may include dining, events, guests, merchandise, lockers, and other club services. Tournament periods can restrict normal member access because East Lake annually hosts the PGA TOUR’s TOUR Championship.
East Lake Golf Club Facilities
East Lake provides a historic clubhouse, golf practice areas, dining facilities, locker rooms, and member gathering spaces. Much of the clubhouse celebrates Bobby Jones, whose golfing career remains closely connected with East Lake. The restored practice complex includes an expansive short-game area and large practice putting green. A grass practice tee exceeding one acre substantially expanded the club’s natural-turf practice capacity. Practice targets and varied fairway configurations allow golfers to work on numerous shots and trajectories. Facilities primarily emphasize golf, history, member service, and East Lake’s role as a championship venue.
East Lake lies approximately five miles east of downtown Atlanta within the historic East Lake community. The neighborhood underwent extensive redevelopment alongside initiatives supported by the East Lake Foundation and club-related charitable efforts. Residential neighborhoods surround the property, creating an urban setting distinct from suburban country clubs. The course provides views toward Atlanta while retaining mature trees, open spaces, and its namesake lake. Nearby communities offer convenient access to downtown Atlanta and other eastern Atlanta neighborhoods. East Lake combines championship golf, Bobby Jones history, community involvement, and proximity to Atlanta’s urban center.
East Lake Golf Course
East Lake is a private 18-hole championship course whose historic design is principally associated with Donald Ross. Andrew Green completed an extensive restoration in 2024 inspired by aerial photography showing the course’s earlier Ross characteristics. The restored fairways use Zorro Zoysia, while putting surfaces feature TifEagle Bermudagrass. Championship conditions emphasize firm fairways, strategic movement, short-grass surrounds, deep bunkering, and demanding Bermuda rough. The TOUR Championship layout measures approximately 7,455 yards and plays to par 71. Course ratings and slopes vary by tees, with championship setups considerably more demanding than standard member configurations.
Every bunker was reconstructed during the restoration, although a definitive current bunker total is not consistently published. Water influences several holes, including the famous lake-bordered 15th and the dramatic finishing hole. The par-three 15th is East Lake’s signature hole, featuring a green dramatically surrounded by water. The restored 18th presents water prominently and creates a demanding conclusion for championship and member rounds. East Lake hosted the 1963 Ryder Cup, 2001 U.S. Amateur, and other important amateur championships. It is best known today as the annual home of the PGA TOUR’s season-ending TOUR Championship.
