Hualalai Golf Course – Membership Cost and Fees
Hualalai is an exclusive residential resort club where membership opportunities are generally associated with ownership of qualifying property. Membership deposits or initiation fees are estimated around $200,000 to $300,000, depending on property and membership arrangements. Annual club dues are estimated between approximately $40,000 and $55,000, excluding homeowners association and property expenses. Full club membership provides access to Hualalai’s private Ke’olu golf course and extensive resort amenities. Member golf privileges may reduce or eliminate conventional green fees, depending on current membership policies. Assessments, food charges, guest golf, carts, caddies, and other services can increase total annual expenses.
Four Seasons Resort Hualalai guests can access the Jack Nicklaus-designed Hualalai Golf Course by paying applicable resort golf rates. Resort green fees commonly exceed $300 per round and vary by season, package, and guest status. Golf carts are generally included with resort golf rates, although current policies and charges should be confirmed. Private Ke’olu Course access is considerably more restricted and primarily reserved for Hualalai Club members and authorized guests. Golf instruction, club rentals, caddie services, and other optional services can generate additional charges. Hualalai Golf Course Facilities
Hualalai provides two championship golf courses alongside extensive practice, instruction, clubhouse, and professional golf facilities. Practice amenities include driving areas, putting greens, short-game facilities, professional instruction, club fitting, and golf-shop services. Members also access swimming pools, fitness facilities, spa services, tennis, pickleball, dining, and extensive ocean recreation. Four Seasons Resort Hualalai provides additional restaurants, accommodations, wellness facilities, pools, beaches, and personalized guest services. Cultural programs, children’s activities, water sports, fitness classes, and social events broaden the recreational experience. Hualalai Golf Course
Hualalai Golf Course is a private-resort 18-hole layout designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened for play in 1996. The championship course measures approximately 7,117 yards from the back tees and plays to par 72. Bermuda and paspalum grasses provide durable warm-season surfaces suited to Hawaii Island’s sunny coastal climate. The championship tees carry a rating around 74.3 and slope near 136, depending on current tee specifications. Black lava formations, strategically placed bunkers, ocean winds, and water hazards create both visual drama and strategic challenges. Premium maintenance produces consistently manicured fairways, smooth putting surfaces, and excellent year-round playing conditions.
Approximately 65 bunkers protect fairways and greens, while water significantly influences several holes throughout the Nicklaus routing. The par-three 12th and dramatic finishing holes are among Hualalai’s most recognizable and challenging features. The 18th plays beside a large water feature, creating a memorable risk-reward finish during tournament competition. Hualalai has hosted the PGA Tour Champions season-opening event since 1997 under several tournament names.
