Blythefield Country Club Golf Course
Blythefield features a private 18-hole parkland course originally designed by noted golf architect William B. Langford. The course opened in 1929 and displays Langford characteristics including elevated greens, strategic bunkering, and dramatic landforms. Championship tees stretch approximately 6,900 yards, with exact distances varying according to current tee and tournament configurations. The par-72 layout carries a rating around 73.5 and slope near 135 from longer member tees. Bentgrass greens and fairways provide consistently maintained surfaces, complemented by mature trees and carefully managed rough. Rolling terrain, bunkers, water hazards, and elevated green complexes create strategic challenges throughout the course.
The layout contains approximately 60 bunkers, although renovations and different counting methods can alter the exact total. Water influences several holes through ponds, creeks, and natural drainage features incorporated into the course routing. The closing 18th is among Blythefield’s signature holes, providing a demanding finish toward the clubhouse. Elevated greens and deep bunkers make precise approach shots particularly important throughout the historic Langford design. Blythefield has hosted the LPGA Tour’s annual West Michigan tournament since 2014, showcasing the course nationally. The event became the Meijer LPGA Classic, attracting many of the world’s leading women golfers to Belmont.
